Emergency roadworks have led to the temporary closure of a major Chester city centre road at rush hour today (Monday, March 18).
Motorists are being warned by Cheshire West and Chester Council to "expect long delays" on the southern loop of the inner ring road and Handbridge/Overleigh Road, as the westbound side of Grosvenor Street, just beyond the Bridge Street/Lower Bridge Street junction, has been closed.

SP Energy Network is behind the emergency works, and follows work carried out as a result of an unexpected power cut which affected many Chester city centre restaurants on Sunday evening between 4.50pm and 6.20pm.
The power cut also saw delays and disruption at Chester Railway Station at the same time, affecting several services.
