PLANS to turn a former Chester city centre church building into a yoga studio have been given the go-ahead.
The change of use application for the old Penri Welsh Baptist Chapel on Gorse Stacks was rubber stamped by Cheshire West and Chester Council this week.
The building will be occupied and leased by Laira Young who runs the Hotpod Yoga Chester franchise.
According to the planning application, it is understood that the church has been unused for around 15 years.
The chapel has been on the market since August 2020.

In a report recommending approval, council case officer Edward Shepherd states: "In this case, it is considered that the community facility is not capable for continued use, the new proposal would provide a small economic benefit by bringing the building back into use within a sustainable location.
"There would be no unacceptable residential amenity or highway safety impacts and the proposal would enhance the character and appearance of the conservation area."
