NOVEMBER has been a busy month for Ellesmere Port cadets as they have supported the both the town's Poppy Appeal collections and fireworks display.

Over the past two weeks, the Royal Air Force Air Cadets from 1074 (Ellesmere Port) Squadron joined Air Cadets from across the UK in supporting the Poppy Appeal by collecting on behalf of the Royal British Legion in Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Marks & Spencer in Ellesmere Port.

Cadets and staff spent time in all three stores selling Poppies and other related merchandise to those who came to do their shopping and were well received by them all, including several who had spent time with the Air Cadets, the Royal Air Force and the Armed Forces both past and present, who praised the cadets in their appearance and participation on this weekend of Remembrance for the Centennial Anniversary of the Armistice.

Also this month, this year’s fireworks display hosted by Ellesmere Port Lions in Whitby Park was supported by cadets and staff from two Air Cadet Squadrons, 1074 (Ellesmere Port) and 2375 (Neston) who helped with the marshalling of the perimeter around the display area and the dismantling of the barriers at the end of the event.

The Lions were very grateful to both squadrons for all their help as they continued to support this event as they have in previous years.

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets is open to all young people ages 12 (Year 8) to 18 and offers the opportunity for cadets to experience many areas including flying, gliding, target shooting, leadership, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, visits and camps to active RAF Stations across Europe and much more. The cadets also took part in two parades on Remembrance Sunday: https://www.chesterstandard.co.uk/news/17226015.ellesmere-port-cadets-on-parade-to-honour-the-fallen-on-remembrance-sunday/
