TO MARK Remembrance Sunday, the Royal Air Force Air Cadets of 1074 (Ellesmere Port) Squadron paraded at two ceremonies during the day.

In the morning, local officials including the mayor of Ellesmere Port, Councillor Karen Shore, and Justin Madders, MP for Ellesmere Port & Neston, along with representatives of the Mercian Regiment, the Royal British Legion, Veterans and relatives of fallen servicemen were present at the War Memorial outside Christ Church on Station Road, in honour of our Armed Forces and in memory of those who had fallen in conflicts around the world.

The cadets were led on parade by Officer Commanding, Flight Lieutenant Mark Armitage along with the Squadron Chaplain, the Reverend Peter Peters, where a service of remembrance was conducted by local Chaplain, the Reverend Gordon Welsh, to members of local community and uniformed organisations.

The Squadron standard was paraded by Cadet Corporal Joshua Clibery.

Following the morning service, the Air Cadets formed with members of the Army Reserve, along with members of TS Forward of Ellesmere Port Sea and Royal Marine Cadets, as well as Cubs and Beaver Scouts to parade. Ellesmere Port Squadron was again led on parade by Officer Commanding, Flight Lieutenant Mark Armitage supported by Sergeant Lynette McDermott.

After the service at the memorial, wreaths were laid by local people and organisations with the wreath for 1074 (Ellesmere Port) Squadron laid by Cadet Sergeant Theodore Philip-Holloway.

The parade marched through Ellesmere Port from the War Memorial in Civic Square St Thomas’ and All Saints Church where the service of Remembrance was held. At the end of the service the parade marched back through to Ellesmere Port Town Hall and War Memorial where officials including the Town Mayor received the salute.
