A JUNIOR rugby team has passed a generous donation to a young persons’ centre in Chester.

Young people at local mental health trust Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) NHS Foundation Trust’s Pine Lodge were given an Xbox 360, along with games and accessories, by one of Chester Rugby Union Football Club’s junior teams.

The players and parents at the club had a collection to raise the money to buy the console following the admission of one of their team mates to the centre.

Toby Reid, the team member who came up with the idea, said: “We’ve visited a few times and have seen how much the people at Pine Lodge do to help those in their care.

“We wanted to say thank you for helping our friend and so decided to have a collection to buy something that might help to brighten up the lives of some of those who will use the centre in the future.”

Richard Janvier, a charge nurse at CWP’s Pine Lodge, said: “This was an unexpected but unbelievably generous gesture from the lads at Chester RUFC.

“This gift will bring so much joy to the young people who come here who have so much to deal with.

“On behalf of Pine Lodge and CWP I’d like to say a massive thank you to all of those who contributed.”
