RGC 1404 forward Tim Grey has left the club to sign for English Championship side Jersey.

The talented player cam through the Gogs’ Academy system at Coleg Llandrillo before progressing into the senior set-up, making more than 100 appearances for the Indigo Group Premiership outfit during their incredible rise to prominence.

With the Welsh Rugby Union offering little hope of a competitive season taking place in the immediate future due to COVID-19 restrictions, Grey has taken this opportunity to try his hand at professional rugby.

His time at Stadiwm Zip World in Colwyn Bay has brought plenty of team and individual achievements. Grey was part of the side that secured their first-ever National Cup, earned international honours with the Wales U20 squad and was selected for the Cardiff Blues regional development team in 2019.

Speaking to the RGC website, he said: “It’s been eight years here at RGC, from coming from Yorkshire when I was 16, through my time at Coleg Llandrillo and then into the Senior Team.

“I have loved every minute of it, and I know I have made friends for life and I truly will miss everyone from the players, coaches plus fans past and present.

“Looking back, I have been I have been super lucky to be involved in the teams that got promoted and won the National Cup Final and playing for Wales U20s and Cardiff Blues.

“It’s been a dream come true and now I’m going to a new adventure in Jersey to test myself and push on to professional rugby.”
