Chester’s all-conquering youth team celebrated a superb season at their awards evening.

The club’s youth team – under the stewardship of academy head coach Calum McIntyre – won five trophies in total during the 2017-18 season, including lifting the National League Alliance League Under-19 Cup a fortnight ago, defeating FC Halifax Town 3-0 in the final held at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium.

Alex Downes picked up the main award for Youth Team Player of the Season, collecting The Paul Raynor Memorial Shield for his efforts.

Cain Noble – who capped a fine season by scoring on his first-team debut against Maidstone United -was named Under 17s Player of the Season and claimed the Under 17s Golden Boot.

Lloyd Marsh-Hughes won the Under 18s Golden Boot award, while Under 18s keeper Ben Gale was awarded the Golden Glove.

Ryan Dobson won the Outstanding Contribution award while Sion Jones claimed the Outstanding Moment honour.

A special award for Clubman of the Year went to the entire coaching staff at the academy, with Under 16s coach Paul Reid and Under 18s assistant manager Martin Farley accepting the award on behalf of their fellow coaches.
