CHESTER BOUGHTON HALL leapt to the top of the Premier League table after an emphatic seven-wicket win at Didsbury.

Ross Dixon's side recorded a sixth consecutive victory to go eight points clear at the top of the division, due to Alderley Edge’s losing draw at Bramhall.

It was Dixon’s brother Lee who stole the show with a stunning 108 not out off just 83 balls to guide Hall to their target of 155 inside 35 overs.

Earlier, Will Owen had put Hall into a winning position with a superb haul of 6-86 off 17 overs, to dismiss Didsbury for 154 in 36.3 overs.

Harry Killoran also collected two wickets for just three runs as Sam Leech’s 61-ball 52 proved the highlight for the hosts.

Hall suffered some early worries as Warren Goodwin and Alex Money both fell early to leave them 20 for two in reply, but Dixon had other ideas.

The Cheshire captain smashed his unbeaten ton off just 88 balls as he put the Didsbury attack to the sword, whacking 13 fours and four sixes, as Rick Moore made 28 in support.

Their latest win gives Hall their best chance of reclaiming the league title they last won in 2013, after Alderley Edge only just held on for a draw on 191 for nine.

Bramhall had earlier posted 253 all out, Ifitkhar Naseer smashing 70 off just 41 balls to take the game away from Alderley.

Bowdon (133 for nine) held on for a draw at home to Hyde (189 for eight) while Neston and Toft’s match was abandoned due to heavy rain with Toft 50 for one chasing 146 for victory. Nantwich and Timperley’s clash was also abandoned due to rain.

Upton recorded a cracking 116-run success at Weaverham to ease any lingering Division One relegation worries.

Upton’s Chris McArthur hit 60 off 76 balls and Matt Owen added 51 as the visitors posted 209 for eight, Neil Cross smashing 43 not out.

Liam Sundve then took a superb 6-31 as Weaverham were dismissed for just 93, as Cross claimed 2-12.

Barrow’s title hopes in Division Two suffered a blow for the second week running as Christleton won a low-scoring encounter by 46 runs.

Matt Astbury’s unbeaten 73 off 116 balls proved a match-winning knock in Christleton’s 137 all out, Malcolm Barrow taking 3-39 and Maneesh Nissanka claiming 2-26 off 12 overs.

League leaders Barrow then suffered a disappointing batting collapse as they were bowled out for 91, Josh Joseph taking a tremendous 5-17 and Shavaiz Saif claiming 4-26 off his 11.2 overs.

Alvanley recorded a terrific three-wicket success over Brooklands. Billy Ouzoundis (4-41) and Lee Ainsworth (2-33) helped run through the top order, before Mike Rowlands’ 2-21 helped dismiss Brooklands for 147 all out, Aj Hart making 41.

Rowlands then made a composed 41 off 58 deliveries as Simon Gee added 31 to help the visitors reach 148 for seven with 20 balls to spare, Arthur Brummitt making a crucial 24.
