GUY DUNBAVAND top scored with 95 runs to help earn Chester Boughton Hall a place in the last eight of the Cheshire Cup.

Dunbavand was backed up by skipper, Lee Dixon (84) and Mark Rowland (59) as the Filkins Lane club posted 295 for 8 against Alderley Edge.

Josh Henderson then played a key role by taking  4-40 as Alderley Edge were skittled out for 243 despite Mark Currie (60) top sciring for the visitors.

Hall now entertain Bollington in their quarter-final scheduled to be played on Sunday, July 27.

Adam Dunbavand (60) top scored for Hall seconds in their draw at Marple.

He was supported by Bob Evans (51), Mike Treen (49), and Matthew Griffiths (38) as Hall amassed 241 for 6 off 50 overs.

Dan Riley then took 3-54 off 11 overs, but Marple held on for a share of the spoils by posting 208 for 7 off 50 overs.

Saughall drew their table-topping clash against Stretton in the Cheshire Alliance League.

Spinner Jay James (3-43) was aided by noteworthy catches from Adam Griffiths, Matty Leek, and James Huxley to restrict Stretton to 196 for 9.

Saughall’s reply got off to a bad start but 59 from skipper Ben Salisbury and contributions from Ben Dean (33) and Martin Huxley (32) gave Saughall a glimmer of a successful run-chase.

Ten an over were required off the last six overs but wickets fell in the fading light and Saughall opted to ‘shut up shop’, finishing on 153 for 6.

Chester County Officers drew their Cheshire League Division One match at Malpas.

The home club batted first and were reduced to 49 for 4 after facing the bowling attack of Graham Dodd      (2-56) and Mike Clarke (2-56), who were aided by two impressive slip catches by Steve Holland.

But Manny Nissanka (110 not out) and Aussie Simon Grove (47) turned the game round and Malpas finished on 220-5.

Officers also struggled early on but Roger Watt (40) and Scott Adams (28) helped push the score to 125-8.

Russell Crowley (40) top scored for Christleton seconds in their five wicket loss at Oulton Park.

Crowley was backed up by opener Jamie Creek (32) as Christleton were skittled for 145 after 40.3 overs.

The hosts made 146 for 5 in reply off 37.2 overs, with Elliott Ashwell hitting 80 not out.

Tattenhall seconds celebrated an eight wicket victory at Bramhall.

The home were bowled out for 118 off 47 overs before Tattenhall made 122 for 2 in reply after 31.1 overs.
