An Ellesmere Port bowling club are kicking off their new season with a completely new look.

Little Sutton Bowling Club, established over a century ago, have new kits for its 70 competitive members, courtesy of a generous donation from Redrow.

The club successfully applied for a portion of Redrow's community fund connected with Ledsham Garden Village, securing £2,400.

These funds have been used to purchase polo shirts and fleeces, equipping players for both warm and cool days.

Chester and District Standard: Redrow helped the team get the new uniforms

Club secretary, Simon Downing said: "Our new uniforms help reinforce a team ethic and a sense of belonging.

"We are very proud of our club.

"Redrow’s kind donation has meant we could purchase polo shirts and fleeces, so we are well equipped for both warm and cool days."

The club, boasting a total membership of over 120, with an age range of 18 to 87 years old, competes in the Wirral, North Wales and Chester areas.

The seven competitive teams aim to secure at least two league titles in the impending 2024 season.

Membership has escalated by more than 30 per cent in the recent two years, and community engagement continues to strengthen.

Mr Downing said: "Our membership has increased by over 30% in the last two years alone and our engagement with the local community has never been higher.

"We have big plans for the facilities at the club over the coming years. Watch this space."

Shared sentiment was expressed by Caroline Thompson-Jones, area sales manager at Redrow NW, as she said: "The new uniforms look great and will go a long way to helping everyone feel part of a team.

"The bowling club is a very close-knit community and players have the chance to socialise and spend time outdoors – both of which are so important for positive mental health.

"We wish them all the best for the new season."
