AN away day will open the new National League North campaign for Chester.

Calum McIntyre’s first competitive match in the Blues’ hotseat will be at Alfreton Town on Saturday, August 6.

Kick-off at the Impact Arena will be at 3pm.

This will be followed by back-to-back encounters at the Deva Stadium.

Brackley Town, managed by former Wrexham boss Kevin Wilkin, make the trip to Chester on Saturday, August 13.

This will be a tough test for the Blues against a Brackley side that pushed Gateshead all the way in the race for last season’s National League North title.

Chester’s first midweek contest of the campaign will be at home to Hereford on Tuesday, August 16.

Completing the Blues’ fixtures for the opening month will be a visit to Peterborough Sports (August 20) and a home clash versus AFC Fylde (August 27).

Turning to the festive spell and there are familiar opponents for the Chester faithful.

For a third campaign on the bounce, the Blues’ festive double header sees them travel to AFC Telford United on Boxing Day.

The reverse encounter will be played at the Deva Stadium on New Year’s Day.

Looking at a busy Easter weekend and Chester will welcome Chorley on Good Friday, April 7.

This will be followed on Easter Monday, April 10 by a visit to Southport.

Chester’s final away game in National League North next season will be played at Kettering Town on Saturday, April 22.

The season proper draws to a close when Buxton pay a visit to the Deva Stadium on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

Preparing for the new league campaign, Chester were able to open their pre-season programme with a 2-0 triumph at Whitchurch Alport.

A goal in each half from Sam Turner and Zack Clarke saw the Blues victorious at Yockings Park.

New boss McIntyre named two teams, one for each half, with only goalkeeper Wyll Stanway playing the full 90 minutes.
