A CHESTER city centre pub and bar will be closing their doors early on Sunday – so staff can watch the Euro 2020 final.

Following England's successful route to the final, which will be played at a packed Wembley Stadium on Sunday at 8pm, both The Botanist and The Coach House Inn have made the decisions to shut their doors earlier so their teams can watch what could be a historic match.

The Botanist's operations director Matt Bamber has instructed all Botanist venues not screening the game, which includes Chester, to down tools on Sunday.

Guests can enjoy The Botanist’s botanical cocktails and hanging kebabs while they countdown to kick-off with a last booking of 5.30pm that day, but after the 'final whistle' at 7.30pm staff will head home to watch the on-the-pitch heroics.

The Botanist is keen to give something back to staff who have worked incredibly hard in the 18 months.

Matt Bamber, operations director for New World Trading Company which owns The Botanist, said: “Gareth Southgate has shown us all the value of teamwork in the past few weeks – and how every squad member is vital to being successful.

"That is why we are announcing we’ll be closing early on Sunday to allow as many of our staff as possible to watch the game.

"We still have a handful of sell-out sites showing the game – we don’t want to be a jinx for any superstitious fans who’ve visited us for every game.

"We’re incredibly grateful to those staff that remain committed to working in this final game.”

The Coach House Inn posted on social media: "We will be closing this Sunday at the earlier time of 5pm so our team can have a well earned night off and enjoy the match.

"We will be back open as normal on Monday from 12 noon.

"It’s coming…"
