Upton AA boss Todd Reid has urged his team to show an improved attitude in their upcoming West Cheshire League clash away to Redgate Rovers.

His calls have come as Upton return to league action after they narrowly avoided a huge upset in the First Round of the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup.

Upton needed to go to penalties – which they won 7-6 - to eventually overcome a Princes Villa side who had held them to an entertaining 4-4 draw.

Speaking of Saturday’s fixture against Redgate Rovers, Reid said: “Our attitude has to be better.

“One or two might have gone into that cup game a little bit too comfortable thinking it will be an easy game, and we just weren’t good enough against Princes Villa.

“We’ll be missing a few players through injury, but regardless of who’s fit or not, we have to go there in the right frame of mind.

“It’s crucial to have our eye on the ball in order to get three points against a team who I expect to be up there towards the end of the season.”

Victory for Upton AA could see them move top of Division One in the West Cheshire League as the current league leaders, Vauxhall Motors Reserves, face a tricky looking away trip to South Liverpool who are fifth, and unbeaten so far this season.

Chester Nomads also return to league action this weekend as they travel to face Capenhurst Villa following their comfortable 4-1 victory over Neston Nomads in the cup.

They head into the game looking for three points that will keep the team among the league’s leading pack.

In the Premier Division of the Cheshire and Wirral Football League, meanwhile, Ellesmere Port FC host St Saviours while Helsby Reserves welcome Christleton. Upton JFC face a trip to Groves Athletic and Shaftesbury Youth head to Sutton Athletic.

In the Championship, Chester Nomads III have a home game against AFC Park North, Crossway play Hoole Rovers and FC Duddon take on Unitor.

Princes Villa face a trip to Hoole Rangers and Shaftesbury Youth Reserves will welcome Orange Athletic.

In Division Two of the CWFL Vets league, Crossway host FC Vaults while Ellesmer Port Town Vets welcome Dee Rangers. Nags Head Bunbury face Frodsham Park at home in the league’s other fixture.
