A CLUB based at a new Chester venue has staged a Tennis Roadshow aimed at boosting interest in the sport among children of a young age.
Hoole Lawn Tennis Club, now located in Mickle Trafford, organised the occasion for youngsters aged seven and under in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
More than 370 children from 40 schools across Chester took part in the event with the objective of promoting the sport, increasing participation and making tennis fun.
The day’s activities were led by Phil Leighton, a senior LTA national coach.
Many of the children will now be joining the ‘Tennis for Kids’ coaching programme which will be run by the club at a number of venues during the summer.
Other club events will include the ‘Nature Valley Big Tennis Weekend’ event, a family day on Sunday, July 14, when visitors will be able to try tennis for free with sessions to suit the whole family including Cardio Tennis, Mini Tennis, family time and free play.
The Wimbledon Men’s Final will be televised in the club room for those interested.
