CHESTER FC have announced the signings of two strikers on the eve of their opening fixture in the National League North with both players expected to play a part in the league opener against Spennymoor.

Shaun Tuton, 26, who has been on trial with the Blues this summer, becomes co-managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley's latest capture as the pair look to further bolster their attacking options.

Tuton joined FC Halifax in August 2015 following spells at the likes of Matlock, Belper and Buxton. He took his opportunity with the Shaymen and his impressive performances earned him a big move to League One side Barnsley in February 2016. He made seven appearances as the Tykes won promotion to the Championship.

Since then, Tuton has had loan spells as Grimsby, Barrow before a return to FC Halifax.

Striker Deane Smalley has also joined the ranks following a successful trial period.

Smalley has extensive experience of playing in the Football League, making over 100 appearances for Oldham Athletic and featuring 81 times for Oxford United. The 29-year-old was also part of the Ashton United squad that won promotion last season.

In other news Chester have also confirmed that promising Academy Graduate Rhain Hellawell has joined Barnoldswick Town on a three-month loan deal.
