CHESTER have pulled off a massive transfer coup in bringing former Wrexham and Swansea City crowd-pleaser Lee Trundle - who could make his Blues debut in tonight's Conference North fixture at Workington.
The 36-year-old striker was released from his contract at League One side Preston earlier this month and Blues boss Neil Young wasted no time in enticing the Liverpudlian to The Exacta Stadium.
“He’s quality,” said Young. “I tried to get him in the summer but he had league clubs after him and he signed for Preston.
“I’ve been keeping tabs on his situation. We’ve had reports from the Preston physios to say that his fitness is fine and his agent, Neil Sang, is also Craig Curran’s agent, so we’ve been on the case for a while.
“I’m made up with the signing and he’s here on non-contract terms until the end of the season.”
Asked whether he needed time to bed in with his new team-mates, Young replied: “No. He’s going straight into the squad tonight.”
Trundle made a name for himself in a four year spell for Swansea City where he scored 78 goals in 146 appearances between 2003 and 2007.
