LIFE bans have been threatened to anyone caught using Ellesmere Port Golf Club illegally after damage was found on the grounds.
The course, in Chester Road in Little Sutton, took to its own Facebook page on Saturday morning to slam a phantom player who left divots un-repaired and pitch marks on the green.
The course, which is under new management, has spent much of the last six months making improvements at the course.
A spokesman said: “Our course is not to be used as your short game practice area.
“These divots are on the second and ninth holes from someone dropping loads of balls and hitting them into the green.

“What makes this even worse (is that) no divots are replaced and the green has loads of pitch marks.
“If any members or public see someone doing this, please report to 0151 339 0755.
“Anyone caught doing this will be publicly exposed and banned for life off the premises.
“Thanks for your support.”
