WORK is finally underway to renovate the Rake Hall pub in Ellesmere Port – with the new owners aiming to open before the end of the year.

The redevelopment of the premises, which includes creating seven bedrooms to offer an overnight stay, has been delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

New owners Brunning and Price – which runs The Architect and The Old Harkers Arms in Chester, as well as The Red Fox in Thornton Hough – is hoping to potentially open the venue in November.

The Rake, based in Little Stanney, closed its doors for good back in January last year.

The Grade II listed building, which was formerly a Hungry Horse pub – one of the Greene King brands, was quickly snapped up by Brunning and Price.
