The University of Chester has been shortlisted for two of the country’s most coveted higher education awards.

For the first time it is in the running for two accolades in the national Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (THELMAs) 2018 in the categories of ‘Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year’ and ‘Workplace of the Year’.

The THELMAs recognise the best in higher education and this year’s winners will be announced on Thursday, June 21.

Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Tim Wheeler, said: “To be shortlisted for one much sought-after THELMA is a significant achievement, but for the university to be in line for two is truly excellent news.

“This accomplishment is down to the hard work and dedication of all at the university who put so much time and effort into providing the best experience for both our students and staff.”

He added: “Teaching is our core business, and we have retained our commitment to it throughout the 179 years of the institution’s history.”
