THOUSANDS of racegoers enjoyed plenty of racing action over the weekend at Chester Racecourse.

While crowds are still limited to a maximum of 4,000, as per current Government Covid regulations, attendances were still higher than at previous race meetings at the racecourse this year, when uncertainty over whether crowds would be allowed at all led to tickets for earlier fixtures going on sale at the last minute.

Dry, warm weather meant conditions were perfect for both racegoers and competitors as a full series of races was completed for both the Clogau Ladies Evening on Friday, June 25 and the Summer Festival on Saturday, June 26.

Racing will return to Chester for July 9-10, for the Boodles Ladies and Gents Evening on Friday, and the City Plate Day on Saturday. Tickets for both fixtures are no longer available as crowd numbers are still restricted.

The following event after that will be the Family Funday on August 1, when it is hoped the capacity will be back to normal. Tickets cost from £12 and are available at chester-races.com
