A POPULAR Indian restaurant chain has confirmed the launch date for its newest venue at Cheshire Oaks.

Mowgli Street Food, which has moved into the former Giraffe restaurant unit at the Ellesmere Port outlet village, will open its doors to diners on June 30.

The company is currently in the process of recruiting staff as it looks to fill 50 roles created by the new restaurant.

Nisha Katona, founder and owner of Mowgli Street Food, said earlier this year that the premises will have a "massive" atrium and "space for 65 seats" next to the new playground at the designer outlet.

She launched her first restaurant in Liverpool in 2014 with the aim of serving the kind of food Indians eat at home and on the street.

Nisha gave up her 20-year career as a barrister to do so and, following the launch of Mowgli Liverpool, several more restaurants across the UK have followed.

Cheshire Oaks will be her 12th venue, with a further four set to open in the next two years.

Speaking recently ahead of the opening, Nisha said she was "thrilled" to be coming to Cheshire Oaks and "bringing Mowgli to a new audience at one of the North West’s most popular attractions".

She added: "Mowgli’s first restaurants were in the North West and I am very pleased that our next new opening is in our home region and that we can recruit for 50 positions here in Cheshire after such a time of hardship and uncertainty for so many people in the hospitality sector."
