AN ELLESMERE Port clothing brand is hosting a special pop-up at the Trafford Centre in Manchester this week.
Macauley Curran, the founder of Macmaison & Co, says that he has had a keen eye for the newest styles since he was a teenager, and had always wanted to create his own brand.
The brand’s new Luxe Collection features caps, t-shirts and tracksuits with a minimalist and luxurious look which Macauley says is reminiscent of some of his favourite designers like Louis Vuitton and Loro Piana.
The 31-year-old, who works in construction and highway maintenance, first had the idea to launch his own clothing line around four years ago, but this was curtailed by covid, and then the birth of his two children meant it was ‘placed on the backburner’.
He said: “I just thought now was the time to go for it again.
“I spoke to a friend of mine and he offered to help and we thought let’s relaunch and get it out there in the Trafford Centre where people can see us.
“What inspires me is seeing a brand like Louis Vuitton and how far they’ve come from where they started – we take inspiration from a lot of the big designers.”

Now Macmaison & Co has its own space in the Trafford Centre, located near to the H&M and Selfridges stores.
Macauley adds: “It looked like the perfect place [to set up].
“The reaction has been really positive and as we get towards the weekend, we hope it’ll be really busy.”
Through building a relationship with suppliers and some trial and error, Macauley says the brand has created items with a premium feel.
“We used to do more streetwear-style pieces, but [the new collection] is a smarter look which is very popular at the moment.
“For example, the luxury caps, not everyone has the money to spend hundreds of pounds on them.
“If we can make a quality product at a suitable price that everyone can afford, I feel that they’ll do really well.”
Macauley says items have been selling well throughout the week at the pop-up stall and that the brand is planning to visit Dubai to host another pop-up in November.
There are also plans to return to the Trafford Centre before the end of the year, with a new collection on the way.
You can check out Macmaison & Co at the Trafford Centre until Sunday (August 30) or online at: www.macmaison.co.uk and at macmaison_co on Instagram.
