TESCO is making a major change to its online grocery service this summer, giving shoppers the chance to secure delivery and Click+Collect slots weeks earlier than normal.
The supermarket is opening up bookings up to eight weeks in advance, helping families get organised ahead of the busy school holidays, August bank holiday weekends, BBQs and staycations.
Normally, customers can only book grocery slots four weeks ahead. Priority customers will be able to start booking from July 14, while general bookings open on July 21.
The move means shoppers can lock in convenient delivery times before demand surges during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year.
Tesco is also removing extra charges on same-day Home Delivery and Click+Collect from selected stores until 6 September, allowing eligible customers to save £2 on Home Delivery and £1 on Click+Collect.
For holidaymakers, Tesco is increasing Click+Collect availability at stores near popular UK holiday destinations, making it easier to collect groceries on the way to a campsite, caravan or holiday cottage.
Those needing groceries at the last minute can also continue using Tesco's Whoosh rapid delivery service, which can deliver shopping in as little as 20 minutes in selected areas.
Rob Graham, Tesco Online Director said: "Summer can be one of the busiest times of the year, whether you're planning a family trip away, hosting a BBQ, enjoying a day out or simply keeping everyone fed and entertained during the school holidays. We want to make it easier for customers to get organised and plan ahead.
"That's why we're opening up eight weeks of Home Delivery and Click+Collect slots over the summer; giving customers more flexibility to book a time that works best for them to get what they need.
"We’re also offering same-day delivery in more stores than last summer and have increased our Click+Collect availability in holiday hotspots to make sure we’re there when customers need us."

Tesco says customers can also change the delivery address on an order, making it possible to have groceries delivered directly to holiday accommodation or collect them from a different store while away.
The retailer is also encouraging regular online shoppers to consider its Delivery Saver plans, which start from £2.49 a month and include unlimited Click+Collect or Home Delivery, depending on the package chosen.
With millions expected to head away over the coming weeks, Tesco's earlier booking window is designed to help shoppers secure the most convenient slots before they fill up.
