ON this day in 2021, filming for a new Netflix drama took place on the Silver Jubilee Bridge, featuring a star-studded cast including Eddie Izzard, James Nesbitt, and Sarah Parish.
The production, titled Stay Close, required the well-known bridge location, which the filming company utilised, to be closed for two short durations on the Sunday.
This resulted in intermittent closures of the bridge, each lasting up to 10 minutes, to accommodate the filming activities.
The bridge itself had recently reopened the month before, adding to the significance of its selection as a filming site.
The filming schedule featured a series of planned events, with production commencing in the early morning.
Filming along a live road with a low loader and tracking vehicle took place from 7.30am to 12.30pm.
Following this, drone filming was scheduled between 1pm and 4pm, which involved 10-minute closures every hour to facilitate actor availability.
The day concluded with additional filming in a live road, utilising a tracking vehicle from 4pm to 5.30pm.

Author Harlan Coben said at the time: “I am so happy and excited to Stay Close (pun intended) with Danny Brocklehurst, Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee — the same team that made The Stranger, Safe and The Five.
"And talk about a dream-come-true cast – Cush Jumbo, an incendiary and awesome talent, Jimmy Nesbitt, a legendary actor I always wanted to collaborate with, and wow, Richard Armitage back again.”
In addition to the filming, the production company agreed to make a donation to the Mayor's Charity, demonstrating their commitment to the local community during the shoot.
