An iconic film season is bringing the work of one of cinema’s boldest directors back to the big screen.
Vue Cheshire Oakes is hosting a retrospective of Baz Luhrmann’s movies, with five of his most acclaimed films returning to cinemas throughout March and April.
The season opens on March 14 with The Great Gatsby, Luhrmann’s adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, and Joel Edgerton.

The Great Gatsby will be followed by Moulin Rouge! from March 20.
The jukebox musical stars Ewan McGregor as a crestfallen poet who falls for the Sparkling Diamond of the cabaret, played by Nicole Kidman.
On March 27, the season continues with Romeo + Juliet, marking the 30th anniversary of Luhrmann’s reimagining of Shakespeare’s tragedy.
Set in the futuristic urban backdrop of Verona Beach, California, the film features Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes as the star-crossed lovers.
Australia returns to screens from April 10.
The historical epic stars Nicole Kidman as an estranged wife who joins forces with a rugged local, played by Hugh Jackman, on a cattle drive across hundreds of miles of harsh terrain to save her ranch.
Their journey is interrupted when they reach Darwin, only to come under threat from the same Japanese bombers that struck Pearl Harbor.
The season concludes with Elvis, screening from April 18.
The biopic explores the life and music of Elvis Presley through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker.
The Baz Luhrmann season gives cinema audiences the chance to rediscover these visually spectacular films in a setting that does justice to their grand scale.

All screenings will take place at Vue Cheshire Oakes.
