DUST off your battle vests, a North Wales heavy rock and metal festival is gearing up this month.
RainbowBiz CIC’s promotional team, North East Wales Metal Productions, are getting ready for their first festival of the year.
Pentre Fest, based at Mcleans Pub, Pentre, near Queensferry, runs on the last weekend of February every year, and sees heavy rock and metal bands descend on Deeside for a two-stage, riff laden weekend.
The event has seen names such as former Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley grace their stage. This year it’s the turn of Fury, a heavy metal band from the West Midlands, with a love of the old-school metal such as Iron Maiden and Metallica. Fury are known to create passionate, dynamic live shows, that are able to capture the spirit of music fans all over.
Fury perform as the festival's final band on Saturday, February 28.

The lineup is packed with underground stars, notably, Theigns & Thralls. An international collaborative project featuring Kevin Ridley (Skyclad) - vocals/guitar, Dave Briggs (Waylander) - guitar/whistles/vocals, John Ryan (ex-Cruachan) - violin/vocals, Arjon Valk - bass guitar/vocals and Mike Verhof - drums, along with guest artists from bands, such as Korpiklaani, Ensiferum, Cruachan, Skiltron, Elvenking, Primordial and Celtibeerian.
Theigns & Thralls will perform twice with a full electric set and an acoustic set.
Friday night (February 27) sees UK death/grinders Basement Torture Killings bring their theatrical serial killer death show to North Wales, supported by Battalions, from Hull, who play down-tuned heavy rock with extreme vocals.
Head of festival and RainbowBiz CIC director, Ian Forrester said: "With bands from all over the North West coming to play, there really is something for all alternative-minded heavy music-loving folk. The festival opens on the Friday with 2025 formed North Wales black metal band Hiraeth, who have a Welsh speaking element and stretches across genres such as metalcore, rockcore, heavy rock and black metal, to also offering acoustic acts on our second stage."
Regulars such as Edd Case and Miserable Sinner will take to the stage as well as Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses North winners in 2025, Rockcore band from Wrexham, Bad Earth.

It’s a family festival with tickets for under 14s half the adult price. There will be food, drinks and stalls available on both days.
