Review: I went for a bite to eat at Georgie's Café, Chester

The café opened at the long-time closed pub, situated between Parkgate Road and Liverpool Road, in May this year.

Having driven past it many times, I decided to give it a try. 

(Image: Newsquest) It pitches itself as a games café, and the owner has done a great job with the place.

There's a pool table, dart board, big screen TVs and the decor is lovely. 

(Image: Newsquest) My partner and I both decided to order the Spicy Nashville wrap - which came with fries.

For £4.99, this seemed really good value. 

Before the food we both got the 'Choco Nirvana' milkshake (5.99). It's not the cheapest, but, my word, did it deliver. The chocolate flavour was rich, but not overpoweringly sweet.

(Image: Newsquest) It was thick and creamy, and served with a generous swirl of whipped cream and chocolate syrup on top. It's definitely worth popping in for. 

The wrap definitely delivered on flavour and heat. The chicken was well-seasoned - juicy with just the right amount of char, and the spice level was bold without being overpowering.

(Image: Newsquest) It had a nice balance of textures: crisp lettuce, and a creamy sauce that helped mellow out the heat a bit.

We had the 'Golden Bites' as a side. They were pretty similar to your bog-standard chicken nugget, but were lovely. 

(Image: Newsquest) In the heart of the student area of Chester, Georgie's is an especially great place for younger people to visit. 

The food is good, cheap and there's plenty there to keep you occupied. It's not a big, slap-up meal type place, but ideal for a spot of lighter lunch. 

I was mightily impressed, and will definitely be back.
