Plans submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council’s planning department details a space of around 1.45 hectares, which was formerly holes six and seven of the course, being repurposed for a smallholding.
The plans are not the first attempt at redeveloping the course, which closed in 2020, with the clubhouse building now the site of a children’s day nursery.
The applicants state that they wish to create an agricultural building to serve the land and that there will be a “variety of agricultural uses” for the space, including bee hives, fruit and vegetable growing, wildflower areas and grazing land.
A track will also be created to link the building to the entrance on Simons Lane.

The development would be on Green Belt land, but development consultants Goodwin Planning Services, say that as it is an agricultural in nature, it falls within the types of development which would be permitted.
The majority of the former golf course site is being transformed into woodland with the help of the Woodland Trust, with a focus on increasing the amount of tree cover across the Cheshire and Merseyside area.
