A CHESTER Primary School has launched a final push to secure vital match funding for an outside space project.
Dee Point Primary School, in Blacon Point Road, Blacon, needs around £5,000 to reach the £18,063 target it needs to put towards its Outer Space Shelter project.
The school has already secured the same amount from official funding but needs to hit the same to ensure money is given, otherwise it is lost.
Carly Turner, who works at the school, called for people to back their project as an investment for the future.
She said: “We know it’s an ambitious target, but it’s achievable if we come together as a community.
“Every donation, no matter how big or small, will bring us one step closer to creating this incredible outdoor space that will benefit the children for years to come.
“This project isn’t just for today’s pupils – it’s an investment in generations of Dee Point children who will pass through this shelter, each taking away lessons that go far beyond the traditional classroom.
“Please consider donating to Dee Point’s Star Shelter project.
“Your generosity will help us give our children the kind of learning environment they deserve – one that is innovative, nurturing, and full of wonder.
“Let’s come together to foster a love for nature, a commitment to sustainability, and a sense of peace and well-being for our future generation.”

She added: “Dee Point Primary School is a larger than average school and currently we have 490 children on roll.
“This school has well above average levels of deprivation, proportions of pupils with Special Educational Needs and pupils known to be eligible for free school meals.
“The school serves a community where social deprivation is significantly higher than national as the Dee Point ward experiences deprivation factors (employment, health, living environment and income) that rank it in the 10 per cent of most deprived areas nationally.
“We have just a number of days to reach our target or we risk losing all pledges.

Carly added that the current space and resources ‘make it challenging to hold outdoor sessions during bad weather’.
She said: “This shelter will allow us to continue our nature sessions regardless of weather conditions, creating a space where learning never stops.”
