PLANS for a complete rebuild of Upton-by-Chester High School have reached an important milestone.
Subject to achieving planning permission, the ambitious project, developed in collaboration with the Department for Education, AtkinsRéalis, Kier, and a skilled design team, will see the majority of the school rebuilt to meet the modern educational needs of learners.
Notably, the current Hub area will be retained and transformed into a dedicated Sixth Form Area, ensuring continuity while enhancing the school’s overall facilities.
The school is now inviting local residents, parents, carers and other stakeholders to participate in a public engagement period, running from Friday, November 29 to Wednesday, December 18.
This engagement period provides the community with an opportunity to review the proposals and to ask any questions or make any comments before the planning application is submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council early next year.
An in-person drop-in event will take place on Tuesday, December 10, from 4pm to 7pm at Upton-by-Chester High School. This drop-in session will allow attendees to engage directly with representatives from the Department for Education, AtkinsRéalis, Kier, and the school leadership team, who will be on hand to answer questions and provide insights into the proposed rebuild.
Headteacher Lee Cummins expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: "This transformative project will not only modernise our facilities but also create an inspiring learning environment for generations to come. We are excited to engage with the community and ensure the plans reflect the needs and aspirations of all those connected to the school.
The delivery of this project will dramatically improve our provision and allow us to ensure that every young person is able to achieve their potential. Our new school has been designed with our values of Resilience, Community, Inclusion, Diligence and Ambition at the heart of the design."
Details of the proposals, the drop-in event, and how to provide feedback can be found on the school’s website at https://www.uptonhigh.co.uk/newbuild.
A summary of the feedback received will be included within the formal planning application.
