A team of walkers has raised more than £4,800 for a Chester-based children's disability charity.

The 21 employees from R&G Fluid Power Group took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in support of Children Today.

The gruelling 24-mile hike covers the highest peaks in Yorkshire: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough and was completed by the team in under 12 hours.

Children Today is a charity dedicated to supporting disabled children and young adults across the UK by providing specialised equipment to empower them to lead more independent lives.

Andrew Cotterill, Merseyflex technical director at R&G Fluid Power Group, said: "Children Today makes an incredible difference in the lives of disabled children and their families, and we’re honoured to be part of that mission.

"We had people on the team who’ve taken part in marathons and the Iron Man challenge, who agreed it’s the toughest challenge they’ve undertaken.

"It’s all worth it though to know that our efforts will make a difference to the lives of young disabled people and their families."

R&G Fluid Power Group and Children Today are encouraging supporters to contribute, no matter the size of the donation, as every pound helps provide opportunities for children to live life to the fullest.

Donations can be made through their page at www.justgiving.com/page/rg-fluidpower-3-peaks-challenge.

The funds raised by the team will go directly towards funding life-changing equipment for children with disabilities.

This could include adapted trikes, powered wheelchairs, and other essential items that have the potential to transform lives.

Emma Prescott, charity director at Children Today, said: "We’re very grateful to the team from R&G for choosing to help us in our mission to support disabled children and young adults.

"An incredible amount of money has already been raised, which could go towards items like adapted trikes or adapted buggies, transforming the lives of disabled children and their families by giving them the freedom and opportunity to share more quality time together.”
