A road on the outskirts of Ellesmere Port has been closed due to flooding on Monday afternoon (September 30).
Cheshire West and Chester Council says its Highways team has made the decision to close Heath Lane in Willaston, between the A550 Welsh Road and the B5133 Hooton Road, "until further notice", due to ongoing flooding issues.
Persistent rain over the past 24 hours has caused flooding to hit the area, with the rainfall also affecting the nearby Hooton Railway Station, where no Merseyrail services are being permitted to run at present.
Train services to and from Liverpool are stopping at Rock Ferry instead, with rail replacement bus services in place to take commuters to Ellesmere Port and Chester.
The weather is expected to improve during the rest of the week, with daytime temperatures due to hit 15C consistently and the chance of rainfall being minimal from Tuesday to Friday.
