A TRAVELLER group that had set up camp on Council-owned land in Chester has now left the area.
Cheshire West and Chester Council said last week (Wednesday, August 28) that a member of its Traveller Team and local police would be visiting the encampment on Shelley Road in Blacon.
The group had arrived at the site in six caravans.
Welfare assessments are carried out on all unauthorised encampments on local authority land by the Cheshire and Warrington Traveller Team.
These checks pertain to health, education, housing (including homelessness services), adult social care and children’s services.
If a decision to evict is made, the Council negotiates a mutually acceptable deadline for the families to move on without any formal action.
An update on Council’s website yesterday (Monday, August 2) confirmed that the group had now vacated the area.
