FIREFIGHTERS were called out to an incident in the city centre.
One fire crew attended the scene at a commercial building in Newgate Street at about 12.30pm yesterday (Saturday, August 31).
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called after smoke was seen to be coming from a wooden pillar outside a commercial building.
"The fire was out on arrival and the crew used a thermal imaging camera and a hose reel jet to dampen the affected area."
