Four people were taken to hospital following a collision on the outskirts of Chester.

The incident on Lache Lane was reported to emergency services at 7.57am on Sunday, June 9.

A 42-year-old driver was arrested following the collision and has since been released under investigation.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "Police were called to reports of a collision on Lache Lane, Chester.

"The collision involved a white Hyundai Ioniq and a red Peugeot 208.

"The driver of the Hyundai, a 42-year-old man from Chester, sustained injuries to his back and was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital. He has been discharged.

"He was also arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit but has since been released under investigation.

"The two passengers in the Hyundai, a 17-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl sustained minor injuries. They were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

"The driver of the Peugeot, a 58-year-old woman from Chester, sustained serious injuries.

"She was taken to Aintree Hospital for further treatment, but her injuries are not thought to be life changing."

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
