THE family of a former landlord of a popular pub in a village near Chester have paid a loving tribute to him.
Brian ‘Rusty’ Williams was born January 17, 1936, in Merseyside and died on May 1, 2024, in Malta, aged 88
Mr Williams was the landlord of The Morris Dancer in Kelsall from 1977 to 1989.
In 1980 he renamed it from The Globe to the Morris Dancer, as he had been a member of the Manley Morris Dancers.
As a former builder and resident of Kelsall, he transformed the pub and barn into a popular music venue hosting the Chester Folk Club monthly and the annual Chester folk festival.
Folk musicians would travel from Liverpool and Manchester to take part in the Sunday lunchtime sessions.
In statement from his family said: "He was a popular landlord who enjoyed bringing people together.
"From the pub he moved to Frodsham and started sailing.
"He spend 10 years sailing around the British Isles and the Mediterranean, settling in Malta in 2007.
"He is survived by his devoted wife Jean Williams and his two children Conrad and Naomi."
