A Cheshire golf day raised more than £20,000 for a cerebral palsy charity.

152 golfers congregated at Pryors Hayes Golf Club earlier this month to support the annual Stick ‘n’ Step’s event, racking up a whopping £22,300 for this vital cause.

The event saw 38 four ball teams in action, with players hailing from across Britain.

The winning team, captained by Steve Ogilby from St. James Place, included businessman Dave Wilkie, Jeremy Ennion from Kenna & Turner and Lee Cochrane, who each walked off with a brand-new golf bag.

The day was not short of sporting stars either.

Fame graced the fairways with ex-Everton player Derek Mountfield, former Scotland footballer Alan McInally, and professional football manager Mick McCarthy taking part.

Once again, the event was organised by Stick ‘n’ Step’s ambassador, Sky Sports commentator Rob Palmer.

The charitable day was rounded off by an evening of traditional entertainment and an auction to further support Stick ‘n’ Step’s fundraising efforts.

Stick ‘n’ Step interim CEO Sarah Smithson said: "The sun shone, the players excelled themselves and our supporters turned out in force to make this another fantastic event to remember.

"Pryors Hayes did an amazing job to prepare the course perfectly for us once more, despite the very wet weather there has been.

"On behalf of Stick ‘n’ Step, I’d like to thank everyone who has again helped us raise much needed funds for the children who attend our centres, and their families."

Stick ‘n’ Step offers free weekly conductive education sessions to children and young people with cerebral palsy up to the age of 25, helping them to live more independent lives.

The charity needs £750,000 a year, raised mostly by supporters and volunteers, to continue providing the invaluable service to more than 100 families at its Wallasey and Runcorn centres.
