A DRIVER caught on the road with no insurance has appeared in court.

Robert Bannister, of Moss Lane, Alderley Edge, pleaded guilty at Chester Magistrates’ Court on May 8 to driving without third party insurance.

The 46-year-old had pleaded not guilty on January 8 and the case had been set for trial when he changed his plea.

Bannister was found driving a Isuzu on Brook Lane, Alderley Edge, at 10pm on August 7, last year, without a valid insurance policy.

The defendant was fined £649 and ordered to pay £110 costs and £260 victim surcharge.

Magistrates also endorsed his driving licence with six points.

The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account when the sentence was imposed.

Banister was granted permission to pay the £1,019 court penalty in £100 monthly instalments starting on June 5.
