THERE is “major disruption” to rail services in Wirral this afternoon, (Sunday, May 12).
Merseyrail trains traveling from West Kirby, New Brighton, Ellesmere Port and Chester are all facing disruption this afternoon due to a fire near James Street railway station.
No services are calling at stations on the loop system. Services from West Kirby and New Brighton are terminating and starting at Birkenhead Central.
All services from Chester and Ellesmere Port are terminating and starting at Birkenhead Central.
A rail replacement bus service is currently being arranged to run between Birkenhead North and Moorfields and Birkenhead Central and Moorfields.
A bus service is now in operation.
