A man involved in a multi-vehicle pile-up on the A483 near Chester was found to be more than three times the drink-drive limit.

Adrian Graves, 34, of Victoria Road, Saltney, was arrested after he was seen to be intoxicated at the scene of the road traffic collision, which happened near the Belgrave traffic lights junction, on the Chester-bound side, at 4.30pm on October 9, 2023.

Appearing at Chester Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 30, Graves pleaded guilty to the charge of drink-driving.

Prosecuting, Lisa Maguire said the collision had been reported to police and Graves was identified at the scene, having been driving a white Vauxhall Vivaro van.

He later gave a blood sample reading of 265 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, more than three times the legal limit of 80.

The court heard a pre-sentence report would be required for Graves.

Magistrates agreed and Graves will be sentenced on June 6. He was handed unconditional bail and an interim driving ban.

A second charge of driving while unfit through drink was withdrawn by the prosecution.
