A PRIMARY school in Ellesmere Port were inspired by a member of staff to take on a mini marathon this week.
Little Sutton CE Primary School embraced the spirit of the London Marathon after one of the school's teachers completed the race in an impressive five hours and 13 minutes.
Motivated by the impressive running and fundraising efforts of all those who completed the course in the capital on Sunday (April 21), pupils at the school on Berwick Road participated in the school’s very own marathon event.
Children from Reception through to Year 6 took part in the challenge to run 12 laps of the school field – or 2.6 miles - with some even achieving double that amount.
The initiative also saw each pupil contributing to a good cause, supporting either Cancer Research UK or The Alzheimer’s society.
The school’s pupils cheered each other on to a staggering total of 2160 laps, translating to an impressive 402 miles.
Little Sutton CE Primary said the event not only promoted “physical activity and healthy competition” but “instilled valuable lessons of compassion, social responsibility and caring for our community.”
