AN AMERICAN football team from Chester will take on the highest peak in Wales this weekend as they look to raise funds for the club.

The Chester Romans’ latest fundraiser will see them climb Yr Wyddfa/ Snowdon in their full kit in order to raise money for specialist playing equipment.

The club are hoping to collect £500, which will allow them to continue encouraging youngsters to try the sport.

Chester Romans is one of the oldest American football clubs in the UK, having been established in 1986, and compete in the British American Football Association National Leagues. They have three teams covering ages 13-16, 16-19 and 19 and over.

Chester Romans said of the fundraiser: “American football is a very niche sport that requires specialist equipment. Please help the team purchase new equipment to encourage more players to take up the sport and allow us to continue playing.

“To raise money the Romans will be doing a sponsored walk up Mount Snowdon wearing our American football equipment, any donation is appreciated and will go towards a great cause!”

The Romans will take on the challenge from 9am on Saturday, April 13.
