FLOODING is currently affecting a stretch of the A55 near Chester.
There is heavy traffic on both sides of the at J40 A51 Tarvin Road (Vicars Cross Interchange).
Despite earlier reports of a police incident in the area, Cheshire Police has said it is a Highways matter, and that police are assisting with road closures due to flooding on the road.
A spokesperson for National Highways North West said: "I can confirm there is flooding on both sides of the A55 at junction 40 and we’ve sent gulley suckers and tankers to the scene.
"It appears there is an issue with a pumping station at J40 which we are investigating. The flooding is at the junction, under the roundabout. In the meantime we’re sending people off the A55, up onto the roundabout and back onto the A55 (both directions) – an up and over diversion. So the carriageway is not closed in this area as such but understandably slow."
