A TRAVELLER group has set up an unauthorised encampment on part of the car park at Asda in Ellesmere Port.
The camp, which consists of five caravans, was set up at the council owned land site on Wellington Road on Thursday, April 4.
All unauthorised encampments are assessed and dealt with by the Cheshire and Warrington Traveller Team (CWTT).
Various checks are made including welfare, cleanliness, disruption to local businesses and obstruction of highways.
If an unauthorised encampment is on Council land, the Council may only evict them subject to complying with Human Rights legislation and other procedures.
In an update on the council's unauthorised encampment log this morning (Monday, April 8) it stated an officer from Cheshire West and Chester Council is to attend.
