A FLOOD alert in place on the River Dee has been updated this morning.

The Environment Agency confirmed river levels have risen and are steady on the River Dee due to rainfall over the last few days.

River levels are expected to remain high today (Monday, April 8) and throughout the week.

A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: "We will continue to monitor the forecast and update this alert if necessary."

Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Dee, with low lying land and footpaths around Farndon expected to be most affected.

Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.

The flood alert covers areas around Shocklach, Farndon, Handley, Lower Kinnerton, Chester and Puddington.
