FIVE fire crews, including one from Chester, were called to Warrington in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, April 6) to help rescue a person who had fallen into the canal.
Fire engines from Warrington, Birchwood, Powey Lane, Chester and Lymm were called to Wharf Street just after 4am.
The water incident unit from Warrington, the hydraulic platform and the rope rescue unit from Lymm were also dispatched.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to rescue a person in water in Warrington.
“Two firefighters in specialist water rescue equipment got the person to safety and to the care of waiting paramedics. Cheshire Police were also on scene.”
