Mill Lane Fish Bar - 3.5 stars.

Located in Upton, this chippy is well known for its impressively large menu and freshly made food. Its fish and chips get plenty of plaudits, but its Chinese meals may garner even more praise. Overall, Mill Lane Fish Bar gets three and a half stars, but its individual food rating is even more impressive, with four and half stars from 40 reviews.

The Fry Inn – 3.5 stars.

Sticking with Upton, The Fry Inn on Long Lane is also well rated within the city. From 83 reviews, the chip shop has achieved a solid three-and-a-half-star score with Tripadvisor. It offer burgers and kebabs alongside fish and chips as part of standard chippy fare.

Adam’s Fish and Chips – 3.5 stars.

Located in the centre of Chester on Lower Bridge Street, Adam’s Chippy is another solid option. Offering sit in and takeaway options, Adam’s Chippy is well known for its traditional chip shop fare. It achieves a three and a half star rating from a much larger sample size of 126 reviews.

George’s Fish and Chip Shop – 4 stars.

Found on The Parade in Blacon, George’s Fish and Chip Shop is another well-loved restaurant with an impressive four-star rating from 26 reviews. George’s was established in 1987 and has hundreds of loyal customers who proclaim it the ‘best chippy in Chester’. It serves fish and chips, Chinese meals, kebabs and burgers.

Hoole Fish Bar – 4.5 stars.

Hoole Fish Bar on Ermine Road has secured an impressive rating of four and a half stars from 23 reviews. The restaurant, just outside the city centre, is among the best on our list with one of the highest ratings in the city. It is praised for its good portion sizes, and fresh and well-cooked fish.

Fish and Chips at Western Grove – 4.5 stars.

By far and away the highest rated chippy in Chester, Fish and Chips at Western Grove has four and a half stars from a mammoth 243 reviews. A specialist in British chip shop meals, this restaurant is regularly recommended as the ‘best in Chester’ and seems to deserve its reputation, with more than 160 ‘Excellent’ reviews having been submitted to Tripadvisor.
