AN innovative new project has launched in Northwich to provide deaf people, their families and carers with a 'unique' platform for social interaction.

The Deafness Support Network (DSN) held its first 'Come And Meet Each Other' (CAMEO) session earlier this month on Monday, March 11, after receiving funding from Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The fortnightly sessions take place at the DSN's Northwich base at 144 London Road and offer a welcoming and inclusive environment for people to engage and connect.

Along with social interaction, the free-to-attend CAMEO sessions also aim to provide health, and wellbeing activities, with sessions sometimes featuring guest speakers.

Kerry Clarke, community liaison officer at the DSN, was enthusiastic about the launch.

She said: “CAMEO is not just a social group; it's a place where connections can be made, and lives enriched.

"We are excited to welcome deaf adults and their families to join us in creating a vibrant, supportive community.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together, learn from each other, and enjoy a variety of activities that promote health and wellbeing.

"We believe that CAMEO will make a significant difference in the lives of many, and we look forward to seeing the positive impacts unfold."

This initiative is part of DSN’s broader mission to enhance the quality of life for deaf individuals and their families through meaningful community engagement and support services.
