WE ARE busy gathering nominations for this year’s Education Awards, so if you’d like to see a teacher, teaching assistant or pupil given the recognition they deserve please get in touch.

We’ve already had dozens of nods so far and it will be tough to whittle them down, but this week we are focusing on those who have worked hard within our fantastic secondary schools.

We want to know who you think deserves to be crowned Secondary School of the Year and Secondary Teacher of the Year.

Last year saw us congratulate thirteen category winners from the area’s education community, with each receiving their own Standard Education Award and coverage on our website and in print.

We will be collecting nominations throughout the coming months, up until May 6, with a ceremony to be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Chester on July 12 presented by journalist and broadcaster Lucy Meacock.

Jonathon Barnett, editor of the Chester and District Standard and the Ellesmere Port and Neston Standard, said: “The team at the Standard is super excited to launch our education awards for 2024, following the success of last year’s inaugural event.

“The entries we received for the award categories highlighted the amazing lengths headteachers, teachers, support workers and pupils go to, to make a massive difference in schools and colleges in and around Chester and Ellesmere Port.

“During last year’s glittering awards ceremony at the Double Tree Hilton, the passion and dedication to provide children with the best possible education, was hugely evident and I am sure this year will be no different.”
