A new drinks shop has opened in the heart of Chester city centre.

Commercial property firm Bolton Birch has welcomed the arrival of Milby’s, Godstall Lane, between Eastgate Street and St Werburgh Street.

Godstall Lane is home to the established and successful Duttons Wine Bar and Restaurant, Zen Beauty and The Botanist Bar, alongside other artisan and boutique shops for which Chester is becoming famous.

The retail unit is 211 sq ft (19.6 sq m) with a kitchen and WC and has a lease below the minimum threshold for business rates meaning 100 per cent Small Business Rates Relief.

Jonty Goodchild, director at Bolton Birch, said: “This is a shop with character and heritage right in the retail heart of Chester where we need to increase the number of quality independent retailers and add value, appeal and spending opportunities for visitors and locals alike.

“Milby’s is a specialist drinks shop selling exclusive gin, whisky and wine from across the world, with snacks too.

“We are always on the lookout for similar properties, or clients who need space quickly to invest in the city centre of Chester and its potential as a lively, vibrant destination.”

Dafydd Pesic-Smith, Milby’s managing director, added: “It’s been a brilliant opening for Milby’s with such a warm and friendly welcome to Chester. We’re really proud to now call this our home and already we feel a part of the fabric of this wonderful city.

"Our customers are really enjoying our beers, wine and spirits from around the World in Milby’s Collection, as well as sampling the fantastic range of products from our bespoke chocolates, to the rum and whisky made right here in Cheshire in our local collection.
